The Torrington Library Board originally planned an addition in 2002 but it wasn’t until Burlington was selected in 2014 that construction got underway for a three-level addition to the marble-faced Greek revival building, along with various renovations to the building’s historic interior. The project increased the library’s size by 13,400 square feet and included exposing hand-hewn beams and a rotunda in the entryway and reading room, an elevator, improved handicapped accessibility, a new, larger meeting room, study rooms, a teen room, and capacity for improved technology.
